In Season - Winter

Cold days are here, often wet and windy, the sun is weak and the days are short, nights are long and perhaps frosty.  Most garden plants are resting now so a time to put the ornamental garden to bed.

From December 1st we stock Nordman Fir (Abies nordmanniana) non drop Christmas trees. This is a high quality Christmas tree taking up to eight years to reach a height ready for sale.  Leave the tree outside for as long as possible to keep it fresh, non drop or not they dislike a hot room with a real fire or hot radiator.

Also available from December 1st are our fresh foliage wreaths using foliage such as spruce, conifer, holly and holly berries.  These wreaths are for outdoor use such as hanging on a front door or to place on a grave.  If used inside, spray with water to keep fresh and try and avoid radiators, fireplaces and sunny windows.

Our home grown seasonal vegetables are available on my Farmers Market stalls throughout most of the year, but especially so during autumn and winter.  This photo was taken at Bakewell Farmers market and shows our brussel sprout stalks, our onions, potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, chard and if still available broccoli.
